The company is being launched by Pantelis Sofianos, a familiar figure in the industry as the founder, president, and former CEO of Orange2fly Airlines, which went bankrupt in 2022.
The new airline aims to offer passenger air transport services, according to its official registration documents. Beyond that, it also plans to expand into broader aviation-related activities, including pilot training schools and other support services. While it is still early days for the venture, the revival of the Orange brand appears to be an effort to leverage both the experience and the recognition built during its earlier incarnation.
Orange2fly, founded in 2015, experienced rapid growth in its initial years, reaching €55.8 million in turnover by 2019. However, like many carriers worldwide, it was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite efforts to restructure under court protection, the company ultimately ceased operations in 2022.
With the launch of Orange Airlines, Pantelis Sofianos is hoping to stage a fresh start. His deep experience in the industry—through highs, lows, and everything in between—adds weight to the venture’s ambitions, as the new airline seeks to re-establish the Orange name in a competitive European market.
